Lecture: Data and Mapping of Cultural Heritage Sites for the Preservation of Antiquities

An in-depth and relevant discussion on the mapping of cultural heritage sites and antiquities, particularly those vulnerable to destruction, looting, and the trafficking of artifacts because of conflict or natural disaster. Our presenters will identify data sources, locations, and existing maps related to the identification of cultural sites and areas at risk- including conflict or potential conflict areas. They will describe where artifacts are being destroyed, how they are being destroyed and what groups may be responsible for the destruction. Speakers are being invited from Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Academia, International Organizations, Interagency Partners, and US Government Agencies.
